Gillian M. Dougans, B.A., LL.B.

Jill grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia and attended the University of British Columbia, where she obtained both her Bachelor of Arts degree and Law degree.  Jill was called to the Bar in 1987.  She practiced civil litigation in Vancouver for five years before moving her practice to Surrey, where she started her own firm with three partners in 1992.  Jill has appeared as counsel at all levels of Court in British Columbia.  In 1999, Jill and her family moved to the Okanagan, where they enjoy the sunshine and all of the local recreation – skiing, swimming, running, cycling.

Jill’s volunteer background includes non profit board work; parent advisory council work; and strata council membership.  Jill has been a guest lecturer on a variety of legal and ADR (Alternate Dispute Resolution) topics and since 2001, has been a volunteer facilitator with the Central Okanagan Restorative Justice Program which is offered by the Boys and Girls Club, a program to help first time youth offenders take responsibility for their crimes and repair the harm they have done to the community.

In addition to her work as a litigator, Jill is also an Arbitrator, Mediator and Trainer in Conflict Resolution.  She holds a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the Justice Institute and continues to maintain her ADR practice.  As an Associate, Jill’s focus is on personal injury, insurance and commercial disputes.
